There was a real sense of excitement, pride and anticipation as we gathered to wish Leon, Maria, Pauline, Tom, Paula and Matthew the very best of luck as they set off to represent Team Eastern at the Special Olympics Ireland Summer Games 2026.
Months of dedication, training and commitment have led to this moment, and everyone at EVE Services is incredibly proud of what each athlete has achieved. Their determination, hard work and positive spirit have been an inspiration to all who know them.
Before their departure, we came together to give the athletes a special send-off. The atmosphere was filled with encouragement, excitement and support as everyone gathered to cheer them on and wish them success for the days ahead. It was a wonderful opportunity to celebrate their achievements and show them just how much support they have behind them as they embark on this incredible journey.
Following their arrival at the Games, the athletes took part in the Special Olympics Ireland Summer Games 2026 Opening Ceremony – a spectacular event that officially marked the beginning of the competition. The ceremony brought together athletes, coaches, volunteers, families and supporters from across Ireland in a celebration of inclusion, friendship, courage and achievement.
The energy and excitement of the Opening Ceremony created an unforgettable atmosphere as athletes proudly represented their regions and shared in the anticipation of the days ahead. It was a fitting celebration of the hard work and dedication that each competitor has shown in reaching this stage.
Over the next four days, Team Eastern athletes will have the opportunity to compete on the national stage, build new friendships, create lasting memories and experience the very best of the Special Olympics spirit. While medals and achievements are important, the courage, determination and enthusiasm they have already demonstrated make them champions in our eyes.
We wish Leon, Maria, Pauline, Tom, Paula and Matthew every success in their events and hope they enjoy every moment of this amazing experience. Know that there are many people at home cheering you on, celebrating your achievements and following your journey with pride.
Good luck Team Eastern – we are all behind you!
