In celebration of International Women’s Day and the power of women in sport, EVE Estuary HUB was honored to welcome Izzy Atkinson for a very special “Audience with Izzy Atkinson.”
The event kicked off with a lively Q&A session, where Izzy sat down with presenter Rachel to share insights into her journey as a professional footballer with the Ireland Women’s National Football Team and Sunderland AFC Women. Her honesty and passion set the tone for a truly inspiring day.
Following the conversation, Izzy took the time to meet everyone, chatting, signing autographs, and creating unforgettable moments for all involved.
We were delighted to be joined by members of Rush Athletic Football Club, whose support and presence added to the positive atmosphere. A special thank you to Fran Byrne (Senior Club Secretary), Shay Dempsey (Chairperson), and Nina Byrne (Senior Women’s player) for being part of such an inspiring day. The fun continued with an exciting penalty shootout, which brought plenty of energy, laughter, and a bit of friendly competition to the day!
Izzy also met with the incredible Estuary HUBS Special Olympics Ireland Games finalists — a truly heartwarming moment that highlighted the importance of inclusion and opportunity in sport.
The celebrations continued with a fantastic performance from the National Ambulance Service Pipes and Drums Band, who brought energy and pride to the day. They also presented Estuary HUB with a beautiful plaque as a token of appreciation for ongoing support — though we feel it is us who are truly grateful for their time and incredible performance.
And of course, there was a very special guest — Noel the Irish Wolfhound from the Irish Wolfhound Association of Ireland, who was an absolute hit and brought smiles to faces all around!
Most importantly, thank you to everyone who came along to celebrate this special occasion. Your support, energy, and encouragement for women in sport made it a truly memorable day.
