Last week as part of our life skills online programme with Daniel, We looked at Problem solving.
Here is what we learned…
Since we were children we all have learned how to achieve most of our basic needs. Initially we overcame a problem or a obstacle which we found difficult by learning how to solve it.
As adults we encounter problems or difficulties such as: learn how to socialize; repairing personal belongings; how to decide on something (spend our money, go on a holiday or trip); getting a healthier lifestyle (overcoming tiredness, pain and unhappiness), tackling boredom – taking up new hobbies, loneliness by getting involved in the community; building friendships or manage conflicts with peers; starting work experience or a new job AND that’s why we need to develop problem solving skills in order to find the best possible solution to our problems or difficulties.
This are 6 important steps in solving problems:
Step 1: Identify the problem – What is the problem? Finding out what caused the problem! What it is that you want to change or needs to be change?
Step 2: Identify your options – Finding possible solutions. What are the possible solutions? Make a list of every option you can think of by asking and checking with others who could help you.
Step 3: Weigh your solutions – Go through each option and see their benefits and downsides.
Step 4: Choose the best option for the problem and simply giving it a try.
Step 5: Put it into action by make it happen.
Step 6: What is the learning? Would you do the same thing again, or are there other ways of doing?
Once this was complete all received our virtual online badges!
