Last week we held our very first Healthy Minds programme on Webex with Daniel. We looked at Relaxing the mind and mindful breathing. Here is what we learned:
Relaxing your Body
- When you are stressed or worried, your body can feel tense.
- Tense is when your body feels tight or sore.
- Relaxing your body means thinking about each body part as you tense and relax it.
- Relaxing your body can help you have positive thoughts. It can make you feel good.
- Close your eyes – This will help you focus on your body
Breathe and Relax
- People breathe all the time without thinking about it –
- Get comfortable by sitting in your chair or lie down
- Do deep breathing by breathing slowly
- Make the breath go in through your nose by inhaling counting 1-2-3.
- Then make the breath go through your mouth by exhaling counting 1-2-3-4
- You can relax your breathing if you think about your breathing
- Pay attention to your breathing by feeling the air going through your nose and lungs
- Feel the air leaving your body
- After think inside your head after you breathe – Think “Be Calm or Relax.”
