As part of our aim towards achieving a Green Flag for our centre, some of our green flag committee members completed a grounds assessment and clean up for our centre. The aim of this assessment was to highlighted the problem areas around the building and to try and think up solutions for certain areas.
Illegal dumping has been a big problem around our centre for years. This time we found a smashed shower door and some blinds right beside the door that we use as part of the sports programme. We all teamed up together and cleaned up the mess that some thoughtless person left us to have to deal with.
The garden tunnels raised a red flag for us during our assessment due to disposable rubber glove being thrown around and rubbish being left in the tunnels. Upon further investigations we realised that the garden area did not have a bin, so we sourced two bins for them and placed them in the tunnels.
Paddy also came up with the great idea of asking everyone to bring in their own garden gloves so that the non-recyclable gloves that they are using now would not be needed as much.
