Now that the summer has finally arrived, we are making sure to enjoy the sunny days outside in our wonderful gardens. At around this time every year our living willow fence, in the arts & crafts garden, needs a tidy up. Larger shoots are rewoven into the original structure and smaller shoots are timed back.
We have added a few surprises to the garden. This is our (very modern) robotic gnome. His name is ‘Transformicon’ because he symbolises how the garden transformed with every season.
This brightly coloured sculpture and flag pole were created by Anthony, Craig and Rachel from recycled thread spools, mental poles, mini disco balls and fabric. The thread spools were sourced from ReCreate, which is a wonderful treasure trove for creative minds. The mini disco balls work very well in the sunlight and throw some lovely patterns onto the wall behind.
Craig got very creative and transformed a plastic pot with some Jackson Pollock-esk painting.
The garden sprung to life with some beautiful blossoms.
Our two polly tunnels were given a massive spring clean, last march, by a team of staff and participants. They are now a wonderful space to work in.
While working on this project, we created a storage space and changing area with some repurposed wooden pallets and used some massive wooden logs as pillars to mark the entrance into the polly tunnel area. Martin had salvaged these logs from a tree that was cut down on the grounds.
Martin and his team have been busy planting new trees and tomato plants.
