This year for our annual group outing we decided to take a trip up to Carlingford in Co. Louth.
“Two buses collected us from the centre first thing in the morning. On the way to Carlingford we stopped off in the Monasterboice Inn for a cup of tea and a scone.
Next we went to St. Brigid’s Shrine in Faughart, where we looked at the holy stones. The stones have different meanings, one is for your head, one is for your back, your knees, your eyes, your feet and your waist. There was loads of things tied to the bushes around the stone for your head. People go there to get blessed and say their prayers. There is also a holy well there and a cross.
We then got back on the coaches and headed for Carlingford. In Carlingford we had a nice walk around the town and looked in some of the shops.
Then we went back to the Monasterboice Inn and had a lovely three course dinner followed by music and dancing.

“We went on a bus to Carlingford for a day out. There was a tour guide on our bus that told us stories and showed us things. We had tea and scones and a lovely dinner in the Monasterboice Inn. We went to St. Brigid’s Well, said a prayer and put our heads against a special stone. Carlingford was nice. There was a cute sweet shop and craft shop there. I had a brilliant day. The dancing and music was great. I was entertained for the whole day.”
