We took an old table top and Anthony and Chris painted the whole thing black.

Then we drew a heart shape onto it.

Next Anthony and Patrick hammered in the nails around the entire outline of the heart, leaving the same amount of space between each nail.

Anthony then took the string, knotted it around one of the nails and started to string it between all of the other nails. This got a little tricky at times, the string broke and got knotted around itself sometimes, but we got there in the end.
Choosing the string was also an issue. Initally we decided on the same red color used by Jen and Jason (see below) but after it was complete we felt that the red and black was a bit too dark.
We looked at it for a few days and decided to try out the white string instead. We are much happier with the end result.
The idea of creating a heart made out of string was brought to us by Jen and Jason Huang who run a site called www.greenweddingshoes.com.
This idea came to our attention while we were searching through pinterest for inspiration. We pinned it to our ‘Valentine’s Day Ideas’ board.
